Pouring Down

Don’t you just love Yorkshire weather? After weeks where the ground could have held the house without piles, it’s been pouring down this week. And today was no exception - in more ways than one.

Today was the concrete pour into the piles.

I arrived at site about 9:45 and the truck with its boom arm was already in situ. Sensibly, the West Build team were sheltering in the van as the weather was slightly damp!

About 10:20 the mixer arrived and the fun began. It’s not pretty; it’s not skilful: it’s like very badly piping a birthday cake - at least like I’d do! Concrete (generally) went where it was supposed to but there was a lot of spillage. Some of this was scooped up to top up piles; a lot of it was left to become part of the wonderful mix of brick, cement bags and metal that we are going to live on.

Now onto the next stage...
