It’s Been A While…but it’s happening!

The last post was in July and so much has happened since then - not least our plan to be by (wait for it) Christmas. Yes, 2024!!

So, what’s been going on?

As the work moved from the outside to the inside and Russ moved on to other jobs, we have been trying to get things sorted to make it liveable at least in part.

The air source heat pump was installed in August but a bit of a disaster with the UFH (Russ put a screw through a pipe!) meant it wasn’t immediately commissioned. When it was, there were airlocks aplenty and things just kept stopping. I can’t fault the installation and engineering team at Aira. They have been brilliant and it was Tom who finally admitted that the heat pump they’d installed for us was new to them! They were in the same boat as us! 😄

The balustrade was done by a great guy, Darren Smith. Top bloke! No issues here.

The render was finally completed but not without some issues. It does, however, look stunning especially with my newly-erected swift boxes.

First fix plumbing and electrics have been completed and we have been buying bathroom items to get on with fitting out the rooms as soon as the plastering has been done.

Of all the places, we have found Bathroom Mountain to be brilliant. Not only do their sale prices mean regular drops (so wait for them to happen) but the delivery experience has been great. Choose your day and it arrives! I wish all companies could be like this. I originally ordered four toilets from somewhere else but they insisted that it had to be a Wednesday delivery despite saying Friday on the site. I ended up cancelling.

We finally ordered the kitchen (working some financial magic to do so) from DIY Kitchens. It comes fully built and ready to installed so wil go in in no time.

All looking good apart from the plastering. Should’ve got this guy:
