More Great Guys

It's amazing what serendipity exists in the world!

Following on from my last post, things looked dim - potentially no roof. I must say, Kingspan - a huge, multinational company - could not have been more helpful. A call to HQ and I was greeted by a lovely lady who explained that the Kingspan 1000 Zip (known in the trade as KingZip 😉) was still out there but the new product wouldn't be ready until the first quarter of next year. She then said that I could get in contact with the regional sales executive who would be able to authorise the product for me.

I duly rang Vinnie and he was great. He talked me through the whys and wherefores of the current position and asked for the plans so he could advise further. He also said that the roof was not being recommended for domestic use due to noise when it rained! We love caravan living!!

Following on from the phone call, I emailed a list of Vinnie's recommended installers. Immediately, Ryan Greaves got in touch from CladProof. He came to site, gave the advice and guidance we needed and put us onto a company to do the roof purlins. Ben at ProFab rang me within an hour and then jointly came to site with Ryan and began to work on spacing and angles.

All this is beyond the 'normal' roofing spec Russ and I are used to so we were grateful of the help.

...then came the quote!

Bearing in mind we are still without any external funding (i.e. self-build mortgage) I gulped. Yep, nearly £50k for the roof and steel.

How are we ever going to do this? And I've still got to pay Russ!

However, I feel I've found some more great guys (like Craig and Rob months ago) whom I trust and am willing to work with.

We just can't afford it.
