The Case of the Missing Fs

‘Ucking ridiculous!
My only thoughts on having the revised planning permission finally approved on 17 January 2022 after first submitting it in on 26 July 2021.
What could we have possibly done to warrant such deliberations?
Nothing.
We wanted to build the house out of local stone in keeping with those around it (whooo!), we needed to move a window by 20cm (Aahhh, says the crowd!) and we wanted to add a roof light. The latter was the only thing that was going to be an issue, I thought.
But no.
It was all about the stone. Despite sending a photograph of a house built by my builder using exactly the same material, the planning officer wanted a sample and the name of the quarry. For reclaimed stone? Welcome to a history lesson I am not going to teach. So, fair enough, we built a small wall on site for the planning officer to view. He never did. He then wanted information about the roofing material! What? It’s exactly the same as the stuff that was passed nearly three years ago!
So, having waited and waited (and heard the new synonyms for incompetence ‘covid19’ and ‘working from home’ too many times) we finally get the permission. Only to find that the stone was approved on the 26 July 2021. ‘Or ‘uck’s sake!
And the sample of the roofing material that was wanted? Never sent. He must have looked at the manufacturer’s website, like we did!
All in all, a bloody ‘ucking waste of everyone’s time.
