Efficiency Embodied

Over a year ago I was searching around for companies to install the underfloor heating. I got prices from quite a few and even looked at supply only with a view to fitting it myself. In the end nothing happened as it has taken so long to be ready to install it. However, one company stood out from the crowd and it was WarmFloors Ltd.

As it has taken so long I got back in touch with Russel Zera and explained what had changed. He got back with and amended quote which was more than previous (no surprise there) but included the screed which I’d budgeted separately for. Overall, the cost of installation and screed was less than I’d budgeted for both so the game was afoot.

After the installation fo the LGF insulation, I asked Russel to do the technical survey. He’d previously told me it was 2-3 weeks after that the installation would happen but in a stroke of luck (for once) they’d had a cancellation.

“So when can you start,” I asked.

“Tomorrow,” was Russel’s reply.

That sent me into a mad panic because Russ (the builder - not to be confused!) was away on another job and the falls on the waste pipes were’nt set (Nathan rode to the rescue), I needed to shutter areas to retain the screed and build a make-shift bannister over the straiwell. I did it - by the skin of my teeth though with plenty missing from my fingers!

And so it was that on the Tuesday Andy and his team made a start and by Thursday it was all done and pressure tested just waiting for the air source heat pump to be installed (another saga, there!).

The LGF was fitted directly to the insulation whilst upstairs was fitted in plastic trays as it had to be so shallow.

Amazingly efficient, amazingly professional and, overall, I couldn’t be more pleased.
