It all starts with optimism and hope.

It continues for a couple of weeks and then…

it turns into - WTF is happening??

Building a house stops and starts more than the 185 bus to Marsden. Two weeks ago I was up in the air with enthusiasm: I’d met our architect, commissioned the structural engineer and was already looking forward to seeing the first piles driven deep into the excrement (see other posts for an explanation). However, two weeks later and nothing. Niets. Nada. Nowt!

The blog and associated silliness has kept me enthusiastic but there’s nothing like a bit of news to restoke the embers of a fading fire. Oh, yes, I seem to have taken up poetry in the absence of any action, too.

Today I saw our builder, Russ. His sagacious words were: ‘You’ll just have to twiddle your thumbs.’

I’ll twiddle my fingers on a keyboard instead. Tomorrow I’m going to email the architect, the structural engineer, Matt HandCock and anyone else who might be able to lend a hand or two (it’s a job offer Matt, not an invitation!) There might be some action (…stop it, Matt!) as a result.

Let’s’ hope so.
